Today, Maddy and I tried out for the talent show. We sang "I see the Light" from Tangled. It was so fun learning the song. We worked really hard and i'm very proud of what we accomplished. Maybe we'll be in the show... If not, it's ok. I feel very good about the audition and I had lots of fun.
Also today, I have been doing some really hardcore studying for my art history test tommorow.....haha, yeah. We'll see how that goes. Anyway, while I was studying, I had my headphones in and I was listening to some pretty mellow music. One of my absolute favorite pieces came up....
It's from one my top ten favorite movies....actually, more like top three. It's a very well done movie. It's called "Departures". It's a Japanese film so not very well known in the U.S.A. It's man who plays the cello in a symphony. He is a very young man who's mother has passed away and his father abandoned him. He is married to his wife and that's basically his entire family. At the beginning of the movie, the owner of the symphony comes after one of the shows and announces that the orchestra has gone bankrupt. All the musicians lost their jobs.
So, the main character has to find a new job. He starts a new job preparing bodies for funerals. In Japan, it is considered a very dishonorable job.
That's all i'm going to say though. I would highly recomend it.
The song that came on my ipod is from this scene....
I should probably explain the scene with the rocks. The boy and his father are finding rocks that feel the way they feel. The reason the father's face is blurred is because the man does not remember what he looks like.
Anyway, go see the movie. It's a good one. Makes me wish I played the cello.
